News on a proposed relaunch of the ExcludedUK APPG – All Party Parliamentary Group.
This has been brought about by ExcludedUK’s Tim Pravda, ably assisted by Stephen Davies working closely with Steve Witherden, Welsh Labour MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Background in brief:-
The previous ExcludedUK APPG was rebranded to Gaps in Support part way through it’s term,
having been first registered on 24th September 2020 and appeared to have been shut down on
or around 19th October 2022 .
This was a bizarre occurrence given nothing tangible was brought about by the group despite having the greatest support of any Westminster APPG in the history of APPGs. – 261 MPs pledged their support.
There were no outcomes. To date no explanation has been given for it’s cessation, even from Jamie Stone MP for Caithness and Sutherland who initially spearheaded it’s creation and Co-Chaired it.
Jamie is the MP of Excluded Scotland’s Community Manager, Sadie-Michaela Harris, and has been
personally invited to show his support by joining the new APPG.
Steve Witherden MP, has formally proposed a relaunch of the APPG with the Inaugural Meeting scheduled for
Tuesday 14th January 2025 to take place in room Q at Porcullis House in London at 3pm.
MPs should email rachel.watkins@parliament.uk in Steve’s office in order to register their intent to join
ahead of the Inaugural Meeting.
The APPG will require support from a minimum of 20 cross party MPs in order to be registered and
adopted. Excluded SCOTLAND thank Tim and Steve for all of their endeavours and hope they will
receive tremendous support from MPs of all political parties on Tuesday.
